KITE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The art and science of taking photographs by using a camera lifted by a kite has been practiced since a Frenchman, Arthur Batut took the first known KAP photo in 1888. KAP, as it is know by those who practice it, has proved invaluable in taking aerial photographs that otherwise would be difficult or impossible to take. Through out history, it has been used to record historical events such as the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, and to provide data for scientific research of erosion, crop growth, archaeological digs, etc. It is also used for artistic purposes, giving an unparalleled aerial view of the world around us without the need for an airplane.

This KAP image was taken by club member Elmon Morrison of the Lake by Lakeside Retirement Home in Omaha.
