Midwest Winds Kitefliers is a group of individuals and families who enjoy flying kites. Quite a few of our members have discovered personal satisfaction in designing and making their own kites, and from time to time we have a kite making workshop for the membership during the winter months.
The public is always invited to take part in any of our flys, official or unofficial, so if you see any kites flying, come over and and introduce yourself. We are always ready to tell you about flying kites, and if you are willing, we will teach you the basics, lots a time with our own kites. Many spectators have ended up flying kites with us all day. Feel free to bring any kites you may have, as more kites in the sky make for a grander show.
On evenings and weekends throughout the year, you may find some of us flying at our home field, Immanuel Field, just South of Immanuel Hospital at North 72nd and Sorenson Parkway. Please feel free to join us.
Our monthly meeting is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month except December when we have a holiday dinner. In good weather the meeting is held at Immanuel Field, along with a fly before the business portion of the meeting. If the weather is bad, the meeting moves across the street into one of the meeting rooms in Holling Center on the West end of the hospital. Visitors are welcome to our meetings.
